4WD REPORT

2001 Chevy Tahoe
For this model year, Chevy Tahoe comes in three models: the base, LS and LT. The base models come with Vortec 4800 V8 engine and have custom cloth for front seats. Many people choose the LS and LT because they are equipped with the Vortec 5300 V8. All models use a smooth-shifting 4-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. With the availability of AutoTrac, the four-wheel drive comes standard. The system basically runs in rear-wheel-drive but once it detect slippage, the dash-mounted dial switched to automatic four-wheel drive. Power is then sent to help balance the situation in a manner that comes unnoticeable to the driver.

The vehicle's braking power is very much enhanced. Stops are shorter and more certain due to the standard four-wheel-disc brakes with anti-lock. To further address safety, front and side airbags are added. Seatbelts are anchored on the front seats and also in the rear outboard seating position. Generally, driving experience in Chevy Tahoe is easy and hassle free. For this year, a more convenient lift-gate design, instead of split door design is made available for the first time.
